This years Annual Tony Awards ceremony was filled with a mixture of emotions; there were world class broadway performances, Hamilton winning an impressive 11 awards and James Corden hosting and dedicating the evening to those mourning in Orlando to name a few. The evening was held at the Beacon Theatre, NYC and didn’t disappoint.
There are so many amazing dresses and looks from the night, but I have chosen to focus on Lupita Nyong’o, Cynthia Erivo and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Here are my favourite beauty looks from the evening.
Lupita was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Play at this years Tony Awards. Although she missed out on the winning spot it was a significant night for the actress, as her role in ‘Eclipsed’ is her first big broadway role. The actress is known for her partnership with Lancôme and her 80s Whitney Houston inspired look for the night of the Tonys was no exception. Her makeup artist Nick Barose captured her so beautifully, her barely there makeup look had her skin glowing on the red carpet. He then used different navy colours on her eyes and finished the look off with a coral Lancôme lipstick that went perfectly with her stunning, beaded Boss dress. Also, side note, hello amazing Tiffany jewellery!
When doing research for this blog, I got so distracted watching British actress Cynthia Erivo perform because She. Is. Amazing. I’m talking chills while sitting in Starbucks. She earned herself a standing ovation after her performance on the night. Then the night then got better when she then won Best Actress in a Musical for ‘The Color Purple’. It was a truly a monumental night as the musical itself also won Best Revival of a Musical. Back to Cynthia (I feel I have watched so many videos featuring her I’m on first name terms) rocked an edgy Robrto Cavalli dress and had an equally edgy makeup look to match. Her makeup artist Jessica Smalls created this standout smokey eye with Lancôme products.
Renée Elise Goldsberry
Seeing the success Hamilton had at this years Tony Awards 2016 it would be strange to not have someone from the cast as a someone worth featuring. René Elise Goldsberry won Best Featured Actress in a Musical and looked fantastic in each of her many dress changes. Starting in Marc Jacobs, then changing into an Oscar de la Renta and finishing off in a CD Greenes Dress. How fancy! Mother of 2, actress posted lots of pictures of the evening, looking equally as glam in each. Makeup Artist Kim Bower used NARS products to create a very sophisticated and elegant look.
I hope you enjoyed my beauty blogger roundup of my highlights and favourite beauty looks from the Tony Awards 2016.
