Wedding Makeup Inspiration

Helen got married in June 2016 at Central Hall, in Edinburgh, followed by a reception in Eskmills Venue. I absolutely loved being part of this wedding morning, everyone was so lovely and Helens face was a dream to paint *insert love-heart-eyed emoji*. I was doing wedding makeup for Helen, 4 of her bridesmaids and her mum and it was such a relaxed morning.

Helens Makeup

Helen had great skin so we didn’t want to overload it with too many products. Primed with Sara Hill Primer and Illamaqua Matte Veil to ensure the makeup looked its best and lasted all day. We kept her skin matte, with Charlotte Tilburys Magic foundation, which looks flawless in the photos. She chose a touch of shimmer for her eyes using Inglot eyeshadows finished with Eyelure Cheryl eyelashes.

Helens Bridal Party

Helen had chosen a lovely shade of green for her bridesmaids, so I wanted to keep the makeup simple and elegant to keep in theme. I used matte cream and brown eyeshadows to complement the skin tone of each individual bridesmaid and balanced it with a lovely natural blusher. Helens mum had a gorgeous blush pink dress and hat, so we choose a pink lip to compliment her outfit.

The Wedding Morning

They had rented an apartment in the centre of Edinburgh, close to where she was getting married. Me and Ruth Donaldson, the hairdresser, set up in the flat and rotated with her bridesmaids and mum. It was a great for me because I had loads of space for sprawling my makeup and I set up right next to a window with great natural light.
